Former Flyers Alumni Enjoying Championship Success

Brantford Golden Eagles Jr.B - In Sutherland Cup Finals

Former Midland Flyer centre and Midland native, Matt Quilty enjoying some sweet playoff success.  It was always a question of when, Matt Quilty would pay big dividends for the Brantford Golden Eagles of GOJHL Jr.B., and that time is now.  Matt came off early season injuries to be a point a game player during the regular season, however, it's the 2012 Sutherland Cup round robin playoffs that Matt has delivered.  Matt not only led his team in scoring, he led all players in points.  He also was a key contributor to the Eagles playoff drive to reach the Sutherland Cup final.  The Eagles will face either London Nationals or St. Catherines Falcons for the Sutherland Cup.  Brantford won all for games in the double round robin versus both these clubs and the games were very close, however, the Eagles have a huge edge and his name is Matt Quilty.  Good luck Matt in the Sutherland Cup finals!

Stouffville Spirit - Buckland Cup Champions/Dudley Hewitt Cup Finalists

Former Midland Flyers power forward and Barrie native, Thomas Tiscos has enjoyed great hockey success in 2012, with his Stouffville Spirit team capturing the Buckland Cup for OHA Jr.A hockey supremacy.  The Spirit represented the OHA in the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Thunder Bay this weekend and after an undefeated preliminary round, the Spirit faced a determined Soo Thunderbird squad.  The Thunderbirds won the championship 5-3 thanks in part to some amazing goaltending.  Spirit outshot them 47-16.  Thomas played a vital role with the Spirit and with his great speed and his forechecking tenancity, he played havoc on all defencemen.  A mid-season injury sidelined him for part of this season, however his determination to be ready for the playoffs exemplified another reason why Thomas is enjoying hockey success.  Congratulations on a great year Thomas!

Former Midland Flyer forward and Orillia native, Ryan Purvis has tasted some championship success this season as his team, the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League captured the Kent Cup this past Friday night.  The speedy forward formerly of the Aurora Tigers of the Ontario Jr. A hockey league, was a key contributor to the Slammers championship run.  Midland Flyers are proud of Ryan's accomplishments!  Congratulations Ryan on your championship season!

Flyers Annouce Kelsey's

The script on opening night couldn't have been written any better!  Flyers score last minute goal in home opener against Stayner to win 3-2 and on the same night, Flyers management announced that Kelsey's Restaurant has become the title sponsor for the hockey club for the 2010/2011 season.  The club will be known as Midland Kelsey's Flyers!  Team President - Gerry Asselin and Vice President - Randy Butineau are pleased to have Stephen and his restaurant staff aboard for the upcoming season!  They bring marketing expertise, new game night giveaways and a fresh new approach to marketing the hockey club.  The Kelsey's Flyers look forward to this new partnership and they would also like to thank Atlas Block, former title sponsor for their years of support!  It is great corporate, business and local sponsorship that makes the junior hockey program a success!  Thank you to all!

Kelsey's Flyers and Boys And Girls Club Support Each Other

Midland Kelseys Flyers are proudly pictured with some of the members of the Boys And Girls Club of Midland. Staff and members of the club were guests of the Kelsey's Flyers and supported the team at their home game on Friday Nov 12 at the Rec Centre in Midland. The kids had a great time, made lots of noise and supported the Flyers to an 8-1 win over Caledon.
